Mommy and Daddy are tired, but doing really well. All the babies are running the show around here - human, canine and feline.

I think I should have time to record more about the birth experience and our first few days with the little one sometime later today. I just have to learn to type with only one hand free first...

Welcome Adelaide Trunzo Malynn!

She is finally here! Sorry for taking days to post, but the boss has arrived and she is directing my life even more than she did from in my belly.

I'll post the vital stats now, and I'll do the detailed, in-all-its-glory birth story post later...

First off, the most important thing, a pic of the little princess:

Checked in to hospital Monday at 8pm, and was discharged Thursday at 3:30pm. Spent about 9 hours in true active labor, and 1 hour 45 minutes of that was pushing. Yes, I got an epidural :-)

Adelaide is a complete delight. She amazes me more every second I spend with her. Ryan is the best daddy and husband ever. We are so enjoying these first few days together that there really are no words to express it.

These rare few minutes I have to spend on things like this is almost up, so I have got to run and do things like brush my teeth :-) More later!

Photo shoot

This week had plenty of excitement! I felt terrible on Wednesday and Thursday, and ended up on the fetal monitor for a while on Thursday. I had been having contractions (not painful, just uncomfortable) for 36 hours solid. I barely dilated any further though - maybe 1/2 cm. So, no active labor. The monitor showed I was having contractions one right after another though, but the baby's heartbeat was responding appropriately. I have my regular appointment Monday, so maybe a little more progression by then...

And a product plug - all women, even those who are not lactating - should buy Lily Padz. They are magical latex covers that somehow adhere defying all laws of physics, giving you a smooth (leak-free) appearance and you can't even feel them when they are on.

The CD and DVD from the photo shoot that Jenna bought us came today. What an amazing job Jenna's friend Rob did! (Another plug - Rob's photography business is called Studio R1, and he is awesome! He will be doing the baby photos as well.) Here are a few of my favorites:

The big 3-0!

Yes, I am now old. I turned old on May 14. Ryan and I went to Carolina Beach and Wilmington for the weekend, and had SUCH a relaxing time. We stared out the open balconey doors from the lovely king size bed and just hung out many of the hours we were there. Sigh, I wish I was back there...

This weekend we installed the car seats. And, due to all the hype, we really thought this was going to an arduous undertaking, requiring a physics major, fireman, and a certified safety consultant from Babies-R-Us. When it only took us about 15 minutes per car, we thought we had to be missing something... But, I think it really isn't as difficult as people make it seem. Or else Rex Hospital will tell us when we try to leave with our baby that our car seat is installed completely wrong. We shall see.

Tomorrow night Ryan and I head to Rex for a breastfeeding class - yikes! This is getting pretty real, isn't it? :-) I am hardly even thinking about the fact that I turn the big 3-0 next week! Having a baby is a prettyy good distraction...

Naughty baby!

We went today for our elective ultrasound (my bday gift to myself), and our little joy has decided to reveal more about her personality than her appearance. As soon as the technician turned the 4D u/s on, she crossed both of her hands in front of her face AND moved one of her feet up there! She then used the other foot to kick me repeatedly in the ribs.

So, we can see she already has us wasting money, is uncooperative, and doesn't like the paparazzi. Or perhaps, as Ryan thinks, she is preparing to be a boxer, and was just guarding her face from the pokes.

In any case, the best picture we got was of her foot kicking me in the ribs:

Here is what we learned today:

• She is still a girl :-)
• Her organs are all developed, and some are showing development even past her gestation (i.e., 32 weeks and 4 days, rather than 32 weeks even, which is what I am at today)
• She weighs approx. 3.5 lbs
• Her heartbeat is 131
• She is almost in the right position - head down, but instead of facing my back, she is laying on her right side
• Best of all - she has HAIR!

As for how mom is doing, yeesh. I can't believe I still have 7 weeks of this! I really don't know how she is going to possibly double in size, because there truly is no more room. I have gained about 25-26 lbs now, and absolutely feel huge and gross. The past few days in Raleigh have been in the 90's and my hands and feet have been swelling like red little sausages. I can't wait for the pool to open, so I can feel cool and weightless.

This weekend is my Raleigh baby shower, and I am so excited. I will load pictures of the shower and the nursery this weekend. Stay tuned!

I had the most wonderful time this weekend in Pittsburgh celebrating both Easter weekend, and my baby shower with my family and PA friends.

Thank you so much to everyone who was able to attend, and were SO generous! A special thanks to my mom and sister who really outdid themselves planning the shower and creating all of the decorations. Check out the really cool cake Jenna made:

Undulating waves

Some pregnancy developments...
* My belly moves like there is an alien inside - I guess there is, actually.
* My ribcage is cracking open like I am a crab at a seafood buffet.
* Strange muscles hurt in my back, abdomen, and legs.
* My feet become red, swollen little piggie feet after wearing shoes for more than an hour. I am wearing only flip flops.

I spent this past week in Boston for work, and the long days (8a-9:30p) were really tough to take. I am down to a Zofran about every other day now, but I do still need them, unfortunately. I am just so glad to have these pills because I don't know how I would have made it this long being so sick, knowing now that apparently my "first trimester morning sickness" didn't go away.

Ryan and I put together all of the nursery furniture last weekend (without fighting!), and I am starting to add the cute touches - the closet looks so adorable with the tiny clothes and tiny hangers!

I am posting some new belly pics in the belly pic post, so check out my big belly. I can't imagaine how I am going to keep growing for nearly 4 more months of this! I have gained about 12 lbs now.

I ordered our nursery furniture the other day, so hopefully when it comes it will be a) easy to put together and b) as nice as in the picture.

Ryan sent me some gorgeous pink and white tulips last week after we found out we are having a girl. I can't believe how sweet that was. :-)

It's a Sheila!

The u/s tech asked us if we had any guesses about whether it was a boy or a girl, and we said, "We both feel like it's a boy, so it will probably be a girl." And, her eventual response, "You were right that you'd be wrong!"

So, we have to start picking out little girl names tonight. The u/s was amazing. I can't believe all of the things they can tell from these pictures now. She was playing with her hands the whole time, sucking her thumb, and she was sitting indian style. Her heartbeat was 132, and she is about 9 oz. right now.

We got a whole CD of pictures, but I will load a few of the best here.

Ninja baby

This ultrasound was SO amazing. Our baby is crazy! He was kicking, punching, rolling and flipping the whole time, prompting Ryan to shout, "He is a ninja!" I am sure the OB thought we weren't fit to be parents, but we enjoyed ourselves.

The baby was moving so much it was kind of hard to get good shots, and these pictures really don't do the experience justice. But, at least out baby doesn't look like a crustacean anymore.
