Beach baby!

Adelaide saw the ocean for the first time and she LOVED it! The sound of the ocean, the humidity, and the warm air was a winning combo as far as she was concerned. Anytime she was fussy, we just took her out on the balconey and she was asleep in almost no time. Ryan and I joked that we will be relocating ocean front asap :-)

You can see all of the photos from our trip here:

Here is one of my favorite pics of me and Ade hanging out on the beach:

We had a great time staying at the Sea Watch Resort with Mike, Briana, and Carter. The trip started with Ade being an angel on the drive down and sleeping without making a peep for the first 110 miles. She drank a little of her bottle, and probably only spent 30 out of 3:30 hours crying. Then, while we were there, she was pleasant and sweet almost the whole time. She had a few crying bouts - her worst was when my Uncle Tommy and his family came to visit her for the first time of course! - but mostly she was like what I imagine a normal baby is like. We still had to hold her the whole time, naturally, but she was a real champ. She came down to the beach two mornings and slept on my chest. We took her to the outlets and shopped with her in the Bjorn, and she was good for over an hour. Going in and out of the air conditioning bothered her, and eventually she would tolerate it no more. We even went to breakfast at the hotel restaurant two mornings and she slept on me while we ate. Another first for Ade - we went to Barefoot Landing and ate at Joe's Crab Shack - it was her first meal out! (Yes, Ade ate too hidden under my Bebe Au Lait.) I had a margarita and ordered food that I could eat without utensils. We also bought a Christmas ornament to commemorate the trip, as is our tradition anytime we travel. One night she slept a 4-hour stretch! Okay, we won't talk about the last night when she didn't want to sleep at all... She ended the trip by sleeping nearly the entire drive home. Whew!

Good job, my sweet beach baby!

The big 3-0!

Yes, I am now old. I turned old on May 14. Ryan and I went to Carolina Beach and Wilmington for the weekend, and had SUCH a relaxing time. We stared out the open balconey doors from the lovely king size bed and just hung out many of the hours we were there. Sigh, I wish I was back there...

Here is a pic of me on my last night in my 20's:
This weekend we installed the car seats. And, due to all the hype, we really thought this was going to an arduous undertaking, requiring a physics major, fireman, and a certified safety consultant from Babies-R-Us. When it only took us about 15 minutes per car, we thought we had to be missing something... But, I think it really isn't as difficult as people make it seem. Or else Rex Hospital will tell us when we try to leave with our baby that our car seat is installed completely wrong. We shall see.
