A day in the life...

I thought it was about time that I gave an update on our daily habits...

5-30-6:30am - Wake up. Smiles and playing. Mommy showers and gets dressed, Ade watches TV in bed with daddy.

7ish - Mommy gets Ade dressed, and then we visit daddy while he showers.

7:30-8am - Mommy prepares Ade's school things - her food - and gets breakfast ready while Ade hangs out watching in her walker. Daddy heads to work.

8ish - Ade has breakfast.

8-9am - Ade might take a nap, or might just play with Mommy.

9-10am - Depending on the day's schedule, Mommy takes Ade to school.

10am-4pm  - Work, work, work, meetings, laundry, cleaning, chores, whatever I can squeeze in.

4-4:30pm - Either Mommy or Daddy picks baby up from school.

5pm - Ade eats dinner. Daddy usually prepares adult dinner, while Mommy does baby dinner.

5:30-6:30pm - Playing with doggies, and getting into pajamas. Sometimes a tubbie.

6:30-7pm - Ade's bedtime. Mommy takes her up to bed and nurses her to sleep while watching Tivo. 

7-9pm - Mommy might stay in bed while Daddy is downstairs. Sometimes we switch. Thursdays I go to class and Daddy has Ade from 5:15pm on.

It's a crazy schedule - imagine fitting all of your life into this timeframe. Finding the time to vacuum or file your nails becomes a time management challenge.

Ade is moments away from crawling. She is so close, up on all fours, rev'ing her engine. Yesterday she slept in her crib at daycare - we were shocked and thrilled. When we move to the new house, we are planning to make the hard transition to crib sleeping at night. It is going to be hard on all for a while I am sure...

Being in class again, as well as teaching, having a full time management job at IBM, and renovating a house, is kind of wearing on me. I am feeling overwhelmed lately. But, I wouldn't be myself if I didn't take on ridiculous amounts of responsibility! I find my time with Ade is more and more precious to me.

Chewing and scooting

Adelaide has hit some milestones this past week. She has been scooting for a while now - backwards - but she has picked up speed. She can really get across a room in no time!

Also, not only can she work a sippy cup, she can chew grown-up food. I have been giving her puffy baby cereal moistened with water, and she loves it. She mushes them around her tray and then eats little bits at a time. She is so pleased with herself when she is chewing.

A few weeks ago she learned to really stick her tongue out and she spent a whole week or so with her tongue only outside of her mouth, catching flies. Her new trick now is a puckered lip-sucking fish face of sorts (hard to explain). She has forgotten completely about the tongue, and is now focused on the lips. What is next, I am afraid to ask.

We have also been ramping up on our new house project - picking out the tile, fixtures, countertops, etc. Lots of fun! I don't want this phase to end, though I want to see it all come together, because then it means we have to move to the next phase - PACKING! Ug. :-)

Some things I love...

• Adelaide's waking up face. So sleepy and dopey and sweet...
• When she has her fingers in her mouth and looks at me out of the side of eyes, so coy, and I kiss her cheek. She says, "Oh mommy!!!"
• After riding in the car, when you open the door to take her out, and she smiles this big smile like she forgot you were there. What a happy surprise to see mommy or daddy!
• When I tickle and blow on her belly and she SO reluctantly laughs. Oh, haha, fine, haha, you're funny.
• If she gets super excited, she bangs and bangs her hands.
• On occasion, she grabs my face, looks into my eyes, and then slobbers all of my cheek. What a nice kiss.

New Year Resolutions

Adelaide has several New Year's Resolutions:

1. Okay, so, I get up on all fours, and I know I want to go forward... but I keep going backwards. I am gonna figure this crawling thing out.
   
2. Actually, I have figured out just recently how I can stand up by pulling on my mommy's leg or a cabinet. I think I need to learn to walk this year. Everyone else seems to be doing it.
   
3. One thing I am really sick of - watching mommy and daddy eat. They get to eat these colorful, wonderful smelling foods, and then they stick runny, plain cereal in my mouth. I am going to start eating that good food!
   
4. Mommy and daddy take up a lot of room in my bed. Don't get me wrong - it's nice to give them a cuddle in the middle of the night, but I think it is time for them to get their own bed.
5.  Finally, I think I am going to have to give in and start using these big people's language. I talk, I yell, and they just smile and laugh. I think, "Can't you hear the words that are coming out of my mouth?!?!?"

Mommy has only one resolution:
