Baby teeth and puppy teeth

I remember waking up one morning when Adelaide was still sleeping in our bed everynight, and feeling a tiny little tooth breaking through the surface of her bottom gums. And, I felt proud. Proud of my baby like she had just achieved a major accomplishment.

Now, six years later, that tooth has fallen out. Her precious sweet little baby tooth that she worked so hard to grow. After her dentists appointment on her birthday where we found out it was loose, Ade has been working at wiggling her tooth. My primary concern was not to rush it, so that it was as painless and trauma-free as possible, knowing this was the first of many loose teeth to come. A few weeks later, Ade was brushing her teeth before bed when she called me over - hanging from her mouth was a glob of toothpaste, and a tooth. I grabbed it right out, voila! Ade thought it was SO cool. That night the toothfairy brought a little glitter-dusted note and a $5 bill. Whee! Now I can already see the grown-up tooth breaking the surface in that baby tooth's place, and I feel just as oddly proud of this next achievement.

AND, Adelaide started first grade that same week! She got to go right up on the lost teeth chart in her room with Mrs. Satterwhite.

Speaking of little teeth, we expanded the family! Say welcome to Aspen Angel, our adorable muppet of a labradoodle. :-)

We have been visiting the puppies at Good Day Doodle in Greensboro since she was born June 6 every 2 weeks. And finally this past Saturday we got to bring her home. She was a floppy bundle of love the whole car ride. Ade let the breeder know at our last visit she would volunteer to temperament test future litters, and insisted on selecting the "Alpha" from the litter. She also made charts of who would play with the puppy most on what days, and named herself the Head Trainer, with Ryan as her assistant. Although Aspen has been the sweetest baby, I forgot how much work a puppy really is. Constant attention, running around chasing, little piddles, missing sleep...

In other life-consuming news, PointSource has moved into its new location. We are busily growing, and building out the site has taken more attention than I thought I had to give. It is so exciting to see everything coming together, and the speed we are moving is astounding. Talk about things to be proud of!

Enjoy this lovely picture of us girls having makeover night. We looked GOOOOOODD!!!

Six candles!

Berry picking and fresh ice cream, yes ma'am!

We soldiered through the rain, and I acted as the program manager for this fun-filled birthday event when they didn't have us on the books for Ade's party that day.
