Shadow games

Quick, adorable Adelaide moment:
We were at the park taking a walk, and Adelaide began playing with her shadow. She spent a long time "dancing" with her shadow and watching how it connected to her feet.

After we walked a ways more, I noticed she kept semi-squatting, looking at the inside of her legs and feet. I asked what was wrong, because she looked perplexed. "Where did my shadow go? We lost our shadows!" Yes, indeed, the sun had gone behind a cloud, and she was intensely scrutinizing her feet to locate her shadow.

I love being a part of how she explores the world.

Going to the zoo, zoo, zoo...

Last weekend we spent a beautiful day at the NC zoo with the Franks. Adelaide, Ella, and Carter enjoyed the carousel and the 4D Dora and Diego show. Briana and I enjoyed waiting in line, while Mike and Ryan enjoyed watching the strollers :-)

All in all, the day went perfectly.

This weekend, we haven't done much of note. We had planned to plant our garden, but the rainy weather didn't really cooperate. Yesterday, I took Ade to the used book store and let her pick out 3 books. She checked out with them and got her own bag and receipt. She felt so proud, my little shopper. Then we walked down to Starbucks for a treat and read our books over our beverages and cupcake. It was so nice.

Grandpa Nino is having a rough go of it, and is in the hospital. I told Ade we needed to call him to tell him to feel better, and a bit later she said to me, "We forgot to call Nino!!!" So we called right away.

Fittingly, I will leave you with this awesome pic of the Trunzo family from cousin Tamara's wedding last August.

The Trunzo girls!

What a fun weekend! Although we missed Daddy, who headed to MA to visit the family, we enjoyed our girls weekend. My mom came down to visit, and we packed the visit with both fun things and plenty of relaxation.

Thursday afternoon we just hung out around my house while I finished up some work. Then we went to Target for weekend supplies, and picked up little miss. We went to "the place with the big moose", aka Texas Roadhouse, for dinner with Aunt Jenna, where Adelaide made Grandma cluck like a chicken until she was practically peeing herself with laughter.

Friday, Ade went to school while Grandma and I had to go to "work" - or really, Smithfield outlets. It was so nice to just leisurely shop. I haven't had a whole day to just do as I pleased in I can't remember how long! Then, we had a late lunch at Cracker Barrel (yum!). We went home and I gave my mom a quick tutorial on using a Mac, and then we picked up nuggie. We made a quick stop at Target and had Aunt Jenna over for dinner again.

Saturday we went to gymnastics and then did a little shopping. We went to Nantucket Grill for lunch, and Ade did a frighteningly unprompted set of semi-ghetto Vogue poses in the booth over lunch showing us her bum, and shaking it rather expertly. She even dropped it low, and did some booty shaking hanging onto the edge of her booster seat. Although all of it was shocking, perhaps the most shocking of all was when she turned her head to me and said, "Take my picture!" I think I'll need to steer her talents in the direction of Jennifer-Lopez-fly-girl, and not some other, ahem, direction this talent could take her...

After a lovely nap time, during which I did some work, but also sat outside in the sun with my mom, we had a pasta meal with mom's pasta sauce.

Sunday we talked to Grammy, Grampy, and Dad over iChat, and Grammy showed Ade Kisser the giraffe. Then Jenna, Grandma, and I headed to the Farmer's Market, and ate some fresh treats. We worked/relaxed over naptime again. Grandma, Ade and I went to a really cool new park in Wake Forest, Joyner park, and took a lovely walk and explored some old farm buildings. We ate chinese for dinner with Aunt Jenna and Uncle Jon.

Overall, it sounds like we did SO many activities that it would have felt really busy, but it just felt low-key and relaxing. I really needed a weekend like that, so thanks Mom!!

Chopsticks, Easter eggs, and Xrays

My my, what a week!!!

On Wednesday, Adelaide had her Easter party at school. Tuesday night we made cupcakes together to bring to the party. After she proudly shared the cupcakes she made with her friends, she had an Easter egg hunt. I was so proud and touched at how sweet she was. She ran collecting eggs so fast, and afterwards, while daddy was holding the bag, she asked for him to give her one of her eggs. When we asked why, thinking she wanted to eat candy, she said to give to her friend Harmoni to share! Adelaide is really the
gentlest sweetest little girl.

We went to the carwash, and then we took a risk and took Ade to a Japanese restaurant with
us, because we wanted sushi. Ade adored it there. We gave her some chopsticks with a connector to help her learn. She literally picked them, and started picking up edamame beans and rice grains! It was amazing! As if that wasn't enough, as we stared at her using chopsticks like she was born in Asia, she declares, "I'm just like Mulan!" We had an absolutely delightful time.

Easter was a blast. Ade asked for a scooter, which she picked out online, after having tried Mya's during our visit to Pgh in Feb. Luckily, the EB delivered. Ade found all of the eggs hidden around the house, the basket of toys and goodies, and then I let her know EB had called me to remind me there was an extra special surprise in the garage. The weather has been gorgeous lately, so we got to scooter around the unopened 98 bypass in 85degree weather!

Then we had the Franks and Aunt Jenna and Uncle Jon over for Easter dinner, and the kids literally ran until they collapsed.

This morning we took Ade to the orthopedist for a little bump that showed up on her ankle out of nowhere. Ade got to have her first xrays and she was quite amused to see the bones in her foot. It is a harmless cyst, so we have to just monitor it and go back in a few weeks to ensure it is still not rubbing on anything.

Everything Ade says amazes us. She has an amazing memory, creative thinking, and attention to details. Her teachers at school told Ryan the other day she is the total package: pretty, smart, and sweet - how could we ask for more???
