May days mayhem

Besides learning to use Google as a verb, what else has Adelaide been up to this last month? Well, as you can guess when I go a while between posts, we have been crazy busy, starting with Ade earning her yellow stripe on her belt - yes, she broke a board with her bare little foot!

Early in the month, we went fishing with Jenna, Jon and Vivian (JJV). Uncle Jon bought Ade her own fishing pole and tackle box, which she adored. Then he taught her to cast, and sure enough, Ade caught her first fish! Vivian was a bit preoccupied with the rubber fish bait, but in any case, it was a great morning of funny memories.

This reminds me about a random story that happened last weekend when we went to see a house with JJV. As Ade and I were driving away, she told me she wanted to move into a house she pointed at. I asked her why, and she said she wants to live next to Aunt Jenna. I said that was nice, but how about Aunt Jenna come live next to us? And Ade told me, no, we needed to move. Our house wasn't a perfect fit. I asked her why, and she was very focused on being near JJV. I told her she was making me kind of sad, since she always has loved the Yellow Chihuahua, which she had named our house. She immediately changed her tune, and said she loves our house. She never wants to say anything that makes anyone feel bad, and she has the sweetest kindest heart. She then told me, "I am worried about Vivian." When I asked why, she said there were ant hills in that backyard and Vivian wouldn't know and would step in them. I said Uncle Jon would take care of it, and Ade insisted he destroy the ant hills specifically with an axe. Okay, a sweet, and violent heart, I guess. She is sort of like this:

Ade is getting ready for kindergarten. She is so excited to be turning 5, and graduate from preschool. I had told her when she turned 5 she could chew gum and get her ears pierced. This weekend at the mall, we let her chew gum for the first time. She chewed for like 30 seconds and spit it out. A bit anticlimactic, in the end. The ear piercing we are leading up to.

This weekend, we are just chilling out. Ryan and I both have had some work to do, but we took care of it early in the 3day weekend. We hit the pool yesterday for the first time this season, and I babysat Vivian last night for JJ anniversary. It was totally worth the trip over in my pajamas in the pouring rain to see Vivian's evening floor show, including when she aggressively did a threat display at me, including crunking and chest bumping, and then gave me a big smile and wet kiss with a flourish. She sure knows how to screw with her opponent's mind. Check out her cap and gown pose - glimpse of the future??? Ug!
