The Magic of Disney, Day 1

Thursday -

Call from daycare that Ade is sick and throwing up!!! Pick her up and determine we shall muscle through. We gave her some Benedryl and boarded the "Mickey Mouse" plane to Disney. Ade was great while we got our rental car and made the drive to our hotel - the Doubletree Downtown Disney - a whole suite with kitchenette for only $107/night IBM rate. Sweet. We immediately unpacked and went straight to downtown Disney. Ade was sick, missed a nap, and was impatient to see "tons of Mickeys!" as she kept telling us. We went to Rainforest Cafe, thinking she would love all of the animals. Alas, while she wanted us to walk her around nonstop, she insisted she did not like the gorillas (which were everywhere). It made the expensive meal kind of unpleasant. But, we knew that day was going to be rough. So, we went to check out some toys and head back to the hotel. Our plan had been to put Ade to sleep in either the king size bed or the packnplay they provided in the bedroom, then shut the door so that we could go out to our luxurious sleeper sofa to watch TV in the

kitchen/living room area. However, that first night, Ade was sick and coughing, and after a few hours of trying to sleep on the small lumpy sleeper, I ended up in the king size bed with Ade and Ry was on the couch. This arrangement ended up persisting the whole trip - Ade to sleep in crib, mom and dad watch TV, mom sleeps in king bed, and dad on sleeper sofa. Most nights Ade woke around 4-5am and came into bed with me until around 7am. It worked out well for everyone involved.
