Some spooky and fried fun!

I wish I could capture how hysterical it is to talk to Adelaide these days. She is smart as a whip, and stores away every little phrase in her head and uses them at perfect moments. For example, the other day I told her something that I needed her to do (I forget exactly what, but something along the lines of always being polite) and she responded, "I'll keep it in mind."

In addition to pumpkin patch birthday parties, and somewhat relaxed unplanned weekends (ahhhh!!! heaven!) we ramped it up this weekend with the Fall Festival at her school, the Durant Halloween Trail with Ella and Briana, pumpkin crafts yesterday, and the NC State Fair today!

For future enjoyment years from now, here is an accounting of some of our spendage at the fair:

  • admission (2 adults, under 5 free) - $8
  • 30 ride tickets (kiddie rides 3-4 tix each) - $30
  • game - $5
  • fried oreos - $5
  • root beer float - $3
  • viewing giant alligator (mom and Ade) - $2
  • corn dog, cheesesteak, fried pizza, cotton candy, bottle water - ~$35
Tomorrow I am headed to Coronado Island off of San Diego to co-present at our IBM Rational Board of Advisors meeting with our CTO. It is pretty cool, and I am excited to be able to go, but I always hate leaving. I build up a lot of anxiety about my trips, and feel mad mommy guilt. I know Ade and daddy have a good time when I am gone, especially when it is a short trip. I leave a little present for Ade to get each morning that I am gone with a note, and of course I always bring back a little something too. All that said, no matter what amazing opportunity or cool place I go, I'd genuinely rather be home without exception.
