"The Doctor Said Now That You're 3..."
Adelaide had her 3 year old checkup this week, where we learned she is 27lbs if lucky, and she is 35 3/4" - almost 3 apples high, like a Smurf. We also had a nice talk with Dr. Wilson about our continuing sleep troubles. To some degree, it is just how Ade is made. We do the proper bedtime rituals to help her wind down. But, he said we needed to just insist upon leaving the room, period. We have tried this in the past to varying degrees of success, but one thing or another always led to regression. After leaving the doctor, we told her, "Now that you are 3, and such a big girl, you have to go to bed like a biggie girl. Mommy and daddy are not allowed to sit in the room with you anymore, because you have to do it all by yourself, like a big girl! The doctor said so." She accepted this with a grin as we talked about how proud we were of her for being so big that the doctor thought she could do it.
That night, and each night since (4 nights in all so far), we put on jammies, brushed teeth, read 3 books in the chair, went potty, and had 1 story while laying down in bed. Then, she gets a kiss, and a good night. We had to go back in once each night for very quick fixes (Baby Boo fell out of the bed, a poke eye...). Ade sings vigorously for about 45 min, and then goes to complete silence. She was asleep 8:35-9pm each night!!!
In less amazing, but equally exciting news, Ade had her first soccer practice last weekend, and she adored it. Italian genes from me, and athletic enthusiasm from her dad, and she is a bona fide footie! GOAL!!!
Also, I took Jenna to celebrate her preggo 30th birthday at Fearrington, and we had a blast, like only two lazy hungry boring girls can! Check out our full tea service:
