Smoky Mountain get away

This year we were intent to escape the stress of the fireworks grenades in our neighborhood, and chose an awesome cabin between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. It was up a crazy crazy mountain road, and was a gorgeous timber built log cabin. Although Ryan had to carry them up and down the spiral staircase for bedtime, the dogs even got to enjoy this vacation with us!


Some of the highlights included:

• Eating disgusting amounts of Southern lard-based down-home backwoods cuisine.
• Hiking to Clingman's dome, Ryan carrying Ade most of the way, and no one being happy about the adventure 90% of the time. ;-)
• The hickabilly "entertainment" - in Pigeon Forge especially
• My enjoyable spa pedicure
• Morning coffee in the hot tub
• Drinking Boones as the only available wine - until we stopped at a local "winery" where I was sold a white that the sommelier advised me "goes well with Taco Bell - the chili cheese burrito"
