2014 adieu.

2013 sassy:

2014 still sassy:

  • Last year I joined IBM as an ex-IBMers, but this year he joined me as a PointSourcer! Somehow although we say we should not work at the same place together, we can't help ourselves. ;-)
  • In my second year at PointSource, I learned again double over what I learned the first year. I stood on a stage in front of thousands of people, I've hired, fired, and made difficult choices to keep a company on the path we can be proud of. Stretching my leadership and business abilities has been an exercise in prioritization for my career, family, and life.
  • Stretching is not only for the mind, but the body! I got back on my health bandwagon big time, joining PBX for extreme pilates, with an original goal to go once a week. I am now up to 2-3 times a week, and have just added hot Vim yoga to my schedule as well. Ryan continues to run and bike like a freak. Beyond that, he also fills our kitchen with odd foods that I barely recognize as food, but I am told it is far better that what I would feed myself. Which I believe.
  • Travel continued to be a big part of our lives in 2014. In addition to my many work-related trips, as a family, we went to Disney, Pittsburgh, Boston, Tampa, Myrtle Beach and the OBX as a family. We are hoping to head out of the country this year... maybe Italy?
  • We had people join and leave our family this year. We added another cousin to the family with baby Reese, and my cousin Lindsay got married. Gigi passed away, and we learned what it means to mourn such a great loss.
  • Ryan and I celebrated a few major milestones. We had a 10 year wedding anniversary, and finally paid off the last lingering and unexpected debt created from the real estate collapse of 2008. Next up, let's sell that house!!!
  • Adelaide is an adult, I think. She knows more than I do on so many topics, and she is such a clever and kind girl. She had her first experience with competition at her spelling bee, and didn't even blink at the pressure. Her best friends are mainly boys, and I wonder how long that will last. I am told about "crushes" and "girlfriends/boyfriends" though they seem to be categories and words without any real meaning. Although she is so grown in some ways, we still snuggle like nobody's business.
  • My old girl Chey is on my mind. She adores Christmas, and I worry whether she will get to enjoy another with us. We are spending a lot of kind energy on nurturing her and her old bones these days.
We forgot to put our resolutions up as a family, so stay tuned for those...
For me, I want to focus this coming year on assurance. Self-assurance, self-trust, and remembering that I am safe even when I am operating in circumstances of uncertainty.

We look forward to some new travels and new experiences this year. Bring it, 2015!
