Home alone!
Today is my first day home alone with Adelaide as Ryan went back to work. She decided to really test me. Instead of sleeping in the morning as she has been until around 8:30am, she decided to cry with gas from 6am on.
I am a bit worried about her gas. She has started crying again after almost every feeding and for long stretches at night. It is so sad to see her in obvious pain, arching her back and all red and screaming. :-( We try all of our tricks and just hope it passes quickly. I will probably start altering my diet to see if it something I am eating that is causing the trouble. Dairy, my true love, will be the first to go. Sigh.
Some other things about our time at home so far...
- Adelaide is a baby dragon. She likes to make faces and growl like she is breathing fire when she stretches. It is adorable. Now we know why she was trying to hatch out of me...
- Her poops are explosive! They can be SO loud.
- She wants to be held all the time if she is awake. She only tolerates being put down if she is completely zonked out. Even then she will only sleep in her carseat or the boppy.
- The dear one refuses to sleep in her bassinet at night, and wants to sleep next to us. We know she is too young to "train" into better sleeping habits yet, but this means we are really exhausted most days.
- During her active times, she is really alert and looking at everything. We wish we had more ways of entertaining her right now.
- She is incredibly strong. She lifts her head so high and pushes up with her arms. She tries to crawl up Ryan like he is a mountain.
- Her skin is still peeling, but I think she is almost finished shedding. I'd like to sponge-bathe her more, but she hates it SO much.
- The girls (Cheyenne and Dakota) adore their baby sister - they follow me around when I am walking to soothe Ade, and they in front of me when I am sitting with her. They want so badly to lick her all over, but they have settled for a few stolen kisses on her toes.
- My best times of day (mentally, emotionally, and with Ade's schedule) is the morning until lunch. The afternoon feels kind of boring, and from dinnertime until evening, I am usually sore, tired, and frustrated.
- Taking a bath feels so good and relaxing. I love when I can fit one in.
So, wish me luck with the next several hours. We can't wait for Daddy to come home!
